THE SHAKY HANDS
The Gürtel-area around live clubs such as Chelsea, Rhiz and B72 is frequented quite a lot by us when we are looking for locations to film. Surprisingly, however, we so far never ended up at Weinhaus Sittl, a charmingly down-to-earth restaurant serving Austrian dishes accompanied by good wine, situated just across the street from Rhiz, where The Shaky Hands are playing a show in November. We take them to the courtyard of Weinhaus Sittl, a cosy, leaves-lined outdoor dining area with huge trees in the middle of the surrounding houses. The four-piece band from Portland sets up their gear in the dark, until the waitress from the restaurant comes out and switches the lights on. Now the scenery is ready for singer Nicholas’ characteristic voice and the 60s-influenced, sunny-with-a-melancholic-side indie rock of The Shaky Hands, who start into inspired, semi-acoustic renditions of “Caught In The Storm” and “Already Gone” from their recent album “Let It Die”.
