AND YET IT MOVES

Usually we only write about artists that fit into our wide definition of the Indie genre and produce music. But on this special occasion it’s all about an Indie computer game. About two years ago four Viennese students who enjoy thinking out of the box joined forces to produce a prototype game as their bachelor thesis. Things worked out fine and their prototype got a lot of attention. They scored an award at the Independent Game Festival in San Francisco, MSN wrote kind words about them on their front page and in the end Nintendo raised an eyebrow and offered them a cooperation to port the game to the Wii platform. Some time passed by but two days ago they finally released the game for PC and Mac. Here at TSMDT we love Indie artists because they compensate the lack of ressources with creative concepts that work without fancy production and marketing techniques. And this is exactly what makes And Yet It Moves special. The game concept is simple to understand but challenging, the sound design is charming (most of the sounds are mouth-made ^^) and to get the graphics done the team added artwork they found in community spaces like Deviantart and Morguefile. All these components together make the outcome more than just the sum of its parts. So if you’ve got a few free minutes to spend watch the trailer and visit their website to grab the free demo version of the game. For the full version they charge the fair price of 15$. Currently it’s available via Steam and Greenhouse.

This is Indie game development that warms our hearts. Galileo would have liked this. Spread the word!
